Enjoy Oktoberfest in Germany

The celebration of Oktoberfest in Germany is dated way back 1900’s, it is the public declaration and celebration of the crown prince Luitpold I and princess Theresa of Bavaria. The known celebration was consisted by horse race, food and beers and the party happened somewhere in a meadow at Munich. In Cincinnati, close to 700,000 people jam the streets of “Zinzinnati” during late September, jostling to music from seven large entertainment stages, while dozens of food vendors serve bratwurst, sauerkraut and thousands of gallons of beer.

Now, Germany is celebrating the Oktoberfest yearly, the month long celebration starts at September and ends in the first week of October where the people of Germany really drink a lot of beers this season. Every community in Germany is vying for the name greatest and largest Oktoberfest every year. The city of Munich and Cincinnati in Germany are fighting for this name; almost 1 million to 10 million pints of beer are being served by the local bars to its customers.  Surely beer lovers and party animals with a lot of space inside their stomach would be satisfied by Germany’s Oktoberfest treats.

Not mentioning the beers, people at Germany also serve 750,000 sausages to the people. What is not to love in Germany in this season?   Here in Germany, beer is valuable in every German’s life, especially the beer makers.  The Oktoberfest is not only about the tradition but also it is about the beer. The beer in Germany is said to follow rules in order to be served.  It is said to have amber-gold lager, robust at 5.2 to 6 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), bottom-fermented and laagered for at least a month, with pronounced malt flavors from Vienna malts, usually accented by the German noble hops such as Hallertau and Tettnang.

An Oktoberfest is brewed very much like the reddish-amber Marzen beer that was served at the Crown Prince’s wedding in 1810. Before the revolution in brewing caused by refrigeration, Marzen beers were brewed in March, lagered or cold-stored in caves for 10-12 weeks, and ready to drink by the late summer or early fall.  Truly these kinds of beer are so special that Germans value their beer so much.

Every street in Munich, Germany where you can find a bar or a meadow can hold the events like beer drinking contest like the coin toss, fastest time to finish a beer and fastest man to eat the German sausage.  These are the small events in every street where you can challenge your will in how strong and how many your stomach can handle.

Not only in Germany, but the Germans who migrated to North America also continued the tradition of Oktoberfest and now is also fighting for the largest Oktoberfest in America. The similar Oktoberfest is also held in Georgia, Panama and Texas. Their Oktoberfest might be a little different from the Oktoberfest in Germany but don’t worry because they also follow the traditional beer and they also have the pipe bag players. The only thing that is missing is the German original sausage.  Aside from that you won’t have to worry about anything especially the Oktoberfest in North America can be extended till spring.

Germany really is a great country, don’t forget to try and visit Germany especially in Oktoberfest months you surely won’t regret it.
